Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before placing an order or using our website. By accessing our store or making a purchase, you agree to be bound by these terms.
1. About Umandawa
Umandawa is a Sri Lankan natural and organic food and wellness brand offering a wide range of products including traditional heritage rice varieties, handcrafted jams and sauces, ready-to-eat canned curries, natural spices and powders, coconut products, kithul-based sweeteners, herbal porridge and flour mixes, fruit juices, hair oils, and various other natural and artisanal products.
Our online store is operated through Shopify. By accessing our website and placing an order, you enter into a legal agreement with us under the terms set out on this page. These terms apply to all visitors, users, and customers.
2. Acceptance of Terms
By browsing our store, creating an account, or completing a purchase, you confirm that:
- You are at least 18 years of age, or are accessing the store under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian
- You have read and understood these Terms and Conditions, our Privacy Policy, and our Refund and Returns Policy
- You agree to be legally bound by all applicable terms
If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our website or place an order.
3. Products and Descriptions
We take every care to accurately describe our products, including their ingredients, weight or volume, and usage instructions. However, please note the following:
- Product images on our website are for illustrative purposes. The actual appearance of a product may vary slightly due to the natural and handcrafted nature of our items.
- Because Umandawa products are made with natural ingredients, the colour, texture, aroma, or consistency of a product may naturally vary between batches. This is not a defect.
- We reserve the right to update product descriptions, ingredients, packaging, or prices at any time without prior notice.
- All weights and volumes indicated (e.g. 500g, 180ml, 400g) are approximate and may vary slightly within acceptable limits.
4. Pricing
All prices displayed on our website are in Sri Lankan Rupees (LKR) unless otherwise stated. Prices are inclusive of applicable taxes where required. We reserve the right to modify prices at any time. If you have already placed and confirmed an order at a particular price, that price will be honoured unless there was a clear and obvious pricing error on our part.
For international orders, prices may be displayed in your local currency as an estimate. The final charge will be processed in LKR or as agreed at checkout, and currency conversion fees may apply depending on your bank or card provider.
5. Orders and Payment
When you place an order through our Shopify store, you are making an offer to purchase the selected products. An order confirmation email does not constitute our acceptance of your order — acceptance occurs when we confirm dispatch of your items.
We reserve the right to cancel or refuse any order at our discretion, including in cases of:
- Product unavailability or stock issues
- Suspected fraudulent activity
- Pricing errors on the website
- Delivery restrictions to certain locations
If we cancel your order after payment has been received, you will receive a full refund to your original payment method within 7–10 business days.
We accept payment via the methods available at checkout, which may include credit/debit cards, PayHere, bank transfer, and cash on delivery (where available). All transactions are processed securely. We do not store your full payment card details.
6. Delivery and Shipping
We deliver across Sri Lanka and, for certain products, internationally. Delivery timelines are estimates and may vary based on your location, courier availability, and order volume. Estimated delivery times are:
- Within Colombo and suburban areas: 1–3 business days
- Other areas within Sri Lanka: 3–7 business days
- International deliveries: timelines communicated at checkout or upon request
Delivery fees are calculated at checkout based on your location and order weight. Free delivery may be available on orders over a specified minimum value as shown on the website at the time of purchase.
Umandawa is not responsible for delays caused by courier services, adverse weather conditions, public holidays, or circumstances beyond our control. Risk of loss or damage to products passes to you upon delivery.
It is your responsibility to ensure that the delivery address provided is accurate and complete. We cannot be held responsible for orders delivered to an incorrect address provided by the customer.
7. Product Use and Suitability
Umandawa products are natural food and wellness items. By purchasing our products, you acknowledge the following:
- Food products (including rice, jams, sauces, curries, spices, herbal powders, coconut products, and kithul products) are intended for consumption as part of a balanced diet. Descriptions of nutritional or health benefits are general and informational, not medical claims.
- Herbal and wellness products (including porridge mixes, herbal powders such as blue pea, gotukola, moringa, polpala, and others) are traditional natural ingredients. They are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
- Hair oils and personal care products are for external use only. Conduct a patch test before first use. Discontinue use if irritation occurs.
- If you have any medical conditions, allergies, or dietary restrictions, please consult a qualified healthcare professional before using our products.
- Keep all products out of reach of children unless specifically suitable for children and used under adult supervision.
8. Allergen and Ingredient Information
We list ingredients on each product page as accurately as possible. However, many of our products are produced in a facility or kitchen environment where common allergens (including nuts, coconut, dairy, gluten, and seafood) may also be present. We cannot guarantee that any product is entirely free from allergen cross-contact.
Customers with known allergies or dietary requirements are responsible for carefully reviewing ingredient lists before purchasing. If you require specific allergen information, please contact us before placing your order.
9. Storage and Shelf Life
All Umandawa products include best-before or expiry information on their packaging. Please observe the following general storage guidelines:
- Store jams, sauces, and canned products in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Refrigerate after opening and consume within the period stated on the label.
- Rice and dry goods should be stored in airtight containers in a cool, dry place away from moisture and pests.
- Spices and herbal powders should be stored away from heat and humidity to preserve potency and flavour.
- Perishable items (fresh dairy products, fresh juices) must be refrigerated immediately upon receipt and consumed before the date indicated.
- Hair oils and personal care items should be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Umandawa is not responsible for spoilage or quality deterioration resulting from improper storage by the customer after delivery.
10. Intellectual Property
All content on our website — including the Umandawa brand name and logo, product names, photographs, descriptions, graphics, and other materials — is the intellectual property of Umandawa and is protected under applicable copyright and trademark laws.
You may not reproduce, copy, modify, distribute, or use any of our content for commercial purposes without our prior written consent. Personal and non-commercial use (such as sharing a product image on social media with appropriate credit) is permitted.
11. User Accounts
If you create an account on our store, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Please notify us immediately if you suspect any unauthorised use of your account.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that are found to be used in violation of these terms, for fraudulent activity, or for behaviour that is harmful to other customers or to Umandawa.
12. Promotions, Discounts, and Offers
From time to time, we may offer promotional codes, discount campaigns, or seasonal offers. These are subject to the specific terms communicated at the time of the promotion, including validity periods, minimum order requirements, and product exclusions. Promotional codes cannot be combined unless explicitly stated, and are not redeemable for cash.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Umandawa shall not be liable for:
- Any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from the use of our products or website
- Loss or damage arising from courier delays or third-party logistics failures
- Allergic reactions, adverse health effects, or individual responses to natural ingredients, where the product was used as directed and ingredient information was available
- Technical issues, interruptions, or errors on our website
Our total liability to you in connection with any order shall not exceed the value of the products purchased in that order.
14. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. Any disputes arising in connection with your use of our store or these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Sri Lanka.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time to reflect changes in our business, products, or legal obligations. The current version will always be available on this page, with the "Last updated" date shown at the top. Your continued use of our website after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
These Terms and Conditions were prepared specifically for Umandawa's online store. They should be read in conjunction with our Privacy Policy and Refund & Returns Policy.
